Most NBA fans wanted to see Kawhi Leonard and Paul George face LeBron James and Anthony Davis in the battle of Los Angeles. Instead, they’ll see the red-hot Denver Nuggets, fresh off another seven-game series, against the LA Lakers

Oddsmakers at the Westgate Las Vegas Superbook have the Lakers listed as -550 favorites in this series, with the surging Nuggets sitting at +425.

These two teams played four times during the regular season and the Lakers had a 3-1 edge straight-up in those games, including a buzzer beater by Kyle Kuzma in the bubble. The teams split their four games against the spread.

Both teams are healthy and have been efficient on the offensive end. The Lakers (114.4) and Nuggets (112.5) rank second and fifth respectively in Offensive Rating during the postseason. However, these two teams are polar opposites on the defensive end. The Lakers (105.4) rank third among playoff teams in Defensive Rating, while the Nuggets (114.0) rank 11th.
