Coming out of the latest international break, and the last one for a few months, Chelsea looks to maintain its impressive run of form up in the north of England against Newcastle United.

The Blues have won four consecutive games between the Champions League and Premier League, netting 14 goals in those contests.

Meanwhile, Newcastle couldn’t build off a big victory over Everton and fell to Southampton before the break.

Let’s find where the betting value lies on what will surely be a beautiful November afternoon in Newcastle.

Newcastle

Last season, it appeared the missing ingredient for Newcastle was a goal-scoring striker. It was hoped the signing of Callum Wilson would fix that, but the Tyneside club still hasn’t solved its attacking puzzle.

Newcastle ranks 15th in the Premier League in non-penalty expected goals and have scored 10 in their first eight games. One issue in attack has been the lack of creativity to feed Wilson.

Allan Saint-Maximin broke out as a playmaker with flair on the Newcastle wing, but he has just one goal and one assist through seven games. Aside from that pair, there isn’t much to write home about going forward for Newcastle.

The Newcastle defense has not covered itself in glory either at 10.02 non-penalty goals allowed, which is the fifth-most in the league.

Chelsea

Chelsea has taken care of business in its last two games, a pair of three-goal victories away to Burnley and home against Sheffield United. The Blues’ attack will take the headlines in those victories, and rightfully so. In its last six games, Chelsea have scored at least three goals five times.

Unfortunately, that run saw a pair of games in which Chelsea conceded three goals. Over their last three league outings, though, it appears that Frank Lampard’s team has stabilized defensively. The Blues have allowed just one goal and 1.37 xG in that span.

The Chelsea defense will be tested without veteran center back Thiago Silva, who Lampard said is unlikely to make the trip north because of extensive travel for his duties with the Brazilian national team. Left back Ben Chilwell is expected to be fit.

Going forward, Christian Pulisic is still not going to be fit and Kai Havertz is facing a race to be available. Lampard said the young German has started trying to gain some of his fitness after isolating for two weeks due to a positive COVID-19 test.

Expect the Blues’ attack to feature both Timo Werner and Tammy Abraham, as well as playmaker Hakim Ziyech, who has three assists in his first four Premier League appearances.

Betting Analysis

Chelsea are rightfully favored in a big way to take all three points, especially with their impressive attack. The Blues have played a 4-3-3 with Werner, Abraham and Ziyech in their past two games, which were a 3-0 Champions League win over Rennes and the 4-1 rout of Sheffield United.

I know we’re coming out of an international break and it’s tough to keep momentum over a two-week period, but I feel good about Chelsea heading north and getting a result. They’ve scored goals for fun this season and should be stout enough defensively even without Silva, especially against an uninspiring Newcastle attack.

I like Chelsea to control this game and create chances galore. If Havertz is fit and available for selection, that’s another boost to an already deep attack that will have Callum Hudson-Odoi and Olivier Giroud also available on the bench.

The Blues +1.5 is +133 on DraftKings and gives you the best value on what should be a pretty routine win for Chelsea.

Pick: Chelsea +1.5 (+133)
